Current Energy Saving Bulbs...

At the moment CFL (Compact Flourescent Light) bulbs are the most common type of bulb used to meet Part L1A and CfSH 2009 ENE3 Internal lighting criteria. They are relatively efficient lights that use approximately half of the power of traditional bulbs. They also last much longer than traditional bulbs - approximately 8,000 hours on average compared with a typical 1-2,000 hours of a halogen bulb. They do not come without their problems however; switch on a CFL light and it takes up to 120 seconds to warm up and reach full brightness. Mercury is also used in the manufacturing process and so makes recycling more complicated too.
